Most computer role playing games are based on fantasy themes. Generally, plots of fantasy games contain elements of fantasy, such as sorcery, and magic, that are combined with scenarios involving quests, monsters and treasures. Dark Age of Camelot is a massively multiplayer online role playing game that incorporates Arthurian legends, Celtic lore and Norse myths. EverQuest is a massively multiplayer online role playing game from Sony Entertainment. In this game, players explore the fantasy world of Norrath, master trade skills, and fight monsters and enemies for treasure and experience points. Icewind Dale is Interplay's fantasy role playing game based on Dungeons and Dragons.

Depths of Peril is an action role playing game with strong strategy elements. In this game, the player serves as a faction leader protecting a barbarian city by destroying monsters, completing quests and competing with rival factions.

Tales of Awernia is an action role playing game wherein the player takes the role of a holy paladin and fights his way through a dungeon full of monsters, traps, secrets and mystery.
